Attracting New Volunteers
Groups often rely on a core group of individuals to shoulder the majority of its volunteering needs. Don't fall into the trap of thinking, it can be easier to ask someone who can be relied on to say 'yes' to do something, rather than find someone new to provide their support
Often, the consequence of this being too few are doing too much, which can lead to feelings of being taken for granted & being overworked. It's important to encourage new people to want to be part of your group & to make a difference in their community.
Engagement
Remind participants when they sign up to your group that you rely on volunteers to function. When registering don't be afraid to ask if they will be able to help & if so what they would be interested in doing. This can be an effective way of engaging new volunteers.
Use local events
Consider how you can use local events like fetes such as Snap Dragon to engage new volunteers. Events such as these provide you with an opportunity to communicate with a new pool of potential helpers
