Who delivers the Hinckley & Bosworth Voluntary & Community Sector initiative? 

Our initiative is delivered & managed by the Rural Community Council in collaboration with Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council. 

Our 3 main objectives are to:

  1. provide a network of like minded community focused groups with a space to connect
  2. help recruit volunteers locally
  3. assist with grant funding applications

Where does the funding come from for the initiative? 

Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council provide funding to manage & deliver the Voluntary & Community Sector initiative including grant funding via the Community Volunteer Fund (CvF) & Making a Difference (MaD) Grant. 

How much will it cost my group to join & access your services?

Completely FREE, thanks to funding provided by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council. 

 

What type of help can you provide my community group with?

Here at the Voluntary & Community Sector initiative, whether a newly formed or forming group or established we can help:

  1. Write Constitutional Documents
  2. Write crucial policies such as Safeguarding
  3. Help document Risk Assessments 
  4. Help with opening a Bank Account for the group 
  5. Identify & apply for various grant funding streams

I want to volunteer, how do I find out about roles locally?

Our dedicated Volunteers Officer, Richard will guide you through the roles we have available with local groups ensuring you get the right role for you & your individual needs. 

Once I choose a role will you contact me again?

For the first few weeks of your volunteering journey we'll keep in touch to make sure things are going well but also to make sure you know you have our support if needed. 

If I don't like the role I chose from those available can I choose another?

If for some reason the role you choose isn't for you, yes we can help you find another. 

How long will you keep e registered on your database for?

As a potential volunteer we will keep your information securely for 6 months initially. If required any longer we will speak with you to authorise this. 

What type of roles do you have to offer?

Here at the Voluntary & Community Sector we have over 150 roles with local community groups & charities. We have a wide, varying range of roles from Retail, Animal Care, Gardening to Media Promotional Work & even Trustee roles. 

How many hours do I have to work?

You only work the hours you wish to do, whether that be a few a week or more. Ultimately this is something that you will discuss when speaking with the group you'll volunteer with. 

As a rule of thumb though only do what you feel comfortable with. 

How much will you charge me for accessing your volunteering support?

Nothing, Completely FREE, thanks to the funding provided by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council. 

What can I get out of volunteering?

Volunteering with us offers numerous benefits, including the opportunity to make a difference, develop new skills, build connections, whilst receiving ongoing support from our dedicated team.

Frequently Asked Questions - Grants

Can my group apply for more than one grant?

Registered groups can apply for both a Community Volunteer Fund & Making a Difference grant in a financial year (April - March). 

Each group though can only successfully obtain one of each grant during this time. 

Can I apply every year?

Yes, you can apply for our grants every year BUT every project must be different & for something new as per our Terms & Conditions available within the 'Grant Funding' page of this site. 

Does my group need a bank account to apply?

Yes, in order to access our grant funding the applicant must have a dedicated bank account in the name of the group for which the application is made. 

Can our group obtain help to complete the application form(s)?

Yes, if you need assistance with completing your application form drop us a line through our 'Contact' page to schedule an appointment. 

We can even assist in completing a third party application such as Police Crime Commissioners Community Action Fund or National Lottery Bid. 

Can you help us identify grant funding streams?

Yes, as a Network Member you'll get monthly funding updates & we can even nominate your projects/group for third party funding such as Tesco Stronger Starts initiative.
